Far far away

Hello friends! We are away on vacation and there is so much beauty to share! We get back next week, so my posts will be short until we return. There's so much to talk about. We visited Waimea Canyon today.

Where did the day go?

Seriously.  Where did the day go? The girls are spending two glorious days this week in Myakka City doing their most favorite thing...riding horses.  Technically, they both ride ponies, but you get the idea.  They spend the day riding, grooming and enjoying each others' company.  The Farm where they ride has lots of different animals including: a donkey, miniature horse, skunk, pig, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs.  It is truly a little slice of heaven.

These photos, taken by the amazing Robert Dutesco, are among the most beautiful and sensitive photos ever taken. You can learn more here.  The Wild Horses of Sable Island (some of Dutesco's most well-known photos) are currently on view in New York.

And, if these beauties don't fit your budget, there are some gorgeous alternatives available via Etsy from Apples and Oats Photography (available here).

Don't these look beautiful?

Have a great rest of the day!

Getting Ready for the Beach

Hello Friends! Travel is on the horizon for many of us this summer.  Although we live near a gorgeous beach, we are headed far far away next week to another beach, Kauai. Packing for the girls is always a challenge.  My fantasy would be easy, one-stop shopping.  Check out these cuties...all from J.Crew.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Whole Heart Cottage

Two years ago, my Dad showed up at our house with all the materials needed to build a playhouse.  Oh how I would have loved a playhouse when I was little.  We had no idea he was planning to build one.  The girls were absolutely beside themselves with excitement. Now that it is summer, Peanut and Twink can spend their days transforming the Cottage from storefront to veterinary office...whatever their imaginations can conjure.  The girls' Whole Heart Cottage is pictured below (with pink shutters).

Cookies & Milk

My obsession with Ina Garten is very borderline. How good do these cookies look? These cookies are perfection. Poems have been written (maybe) in praise of these miracles.  So when I picked up Peanut, Twink and friend from 'dance camp' and all Twink could talk about was cookies.  No one has to ask twice around here to get cookies.  You can get Ina's recipe here.

Hot to Trot

This could be us very soon.  BD has it in his mind that we will be traveling with an Airstream this summer.  He's a bit obsessed.  We love roadtrips, but we also love being in our own beds  This could be the perfect solution. I'm truly loving these Airstreams.

Summer Birthday

So sorry for being M.I.A. the past few days, but we were off doing something very special.  Today is our Peanut's 9th birthday.  She is such an amazing, sweet, special soul.  We love her dearly.

Here are some of my favorite birthday party ideas, courtesy of Pinterest.  Follow me on Pinterest to view even more ideas. Doesn't this cowgirl party look fun?

Can't have a party without a proper candy bar.

These look so cute and delicious.  My homemade version wouldn't look like this. At. All.

Have a great day!

Always Aspirational

Day 3 of our assignment and I really wrestled with today's choice.  Should I be honest with you and admit that this (think Queen's Jubilee) is my deep down favorite blog? Or...should I choose my favorite real estate blog (great writing, beautiful properties)?  In the end, I chose a blog that I truly aspire to, Habitually Chic

The blog is beautifully written by Heather Clawson.  She's got a book coming out, her blog posts are always interesting and her subject matter is oh so, well, chic.  Seriously.  Sometimes it hurts my eyes. You could probably spend days looking at her blog.

Here are some recent photos posted on Habitually Chic

Blogging is hard

As you may have noticed, I'm taking a blog course.  I'm taking "blogging your way 2.0." So far it has been really great, but um...blogging is hard.  I had no idea how hard great bloggers really work.  After reading yesterday's assignment and then viewing other's homework I was completely intimidated.  Apparently, it takes time and talent to blog.  The homework was to list at least 3 blogs that I admire.  Rather than posting in the forum, I decided to post my homework here (see yesterday's post for my first choice, Amber Interior Design). There are some extremely talented people taking this blog course and they have introduced me to some incredible blogs.

So here is my second choice for you to enjoy.  I'm partial to interior design, fashion and lifestyle blogs.   At some point, I will know what this blog is. In the meantime, hope you enjoy viewing the blog of a lady who truly knows what's up.  Beatiful blog? check. Gorgeous original posts? check. Sponsors? Featured in numerous publications? Awesome clients? check. check. check. Erica Powell is extraordinarily talented. The photos of her work (below) were originally published in Traditional Home Magazine.  Enjoy Urban Grace.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Blogs I Love

As I make my way here, I thought I would share some blogs that I truly love.  First up, Amber Interior Design.  Now, Amber doesn't know me from Adam.  I just found her blog and really love checking it regularly.  She frequently posts photos of her clients' homes & projects she is working on.   Based in California, Amber has great taste and a wonderful list of clients.  Here are some photos of just one of her awesome projects.  You can view her blog here.  Enjoy!

Maiden Voyage

So...where are we going with this? I'm not sure yet, as this is the blog's maiden voyage. Definitely an occasion that calls for champagne, a proper send-off and some great music.
